Tough Mudder Log: Week 1, Day 3

Sorry, this yesterday’s post, today. Apologies for the tardiness – The day was a busy one.

Today, I’ll also be posting my journal update a bit late because I’ll be attending Bests Boot Camp in Charing Cross and, if I survive, I’d like to tell you all about it.

In the meantime, here’s yesterday’s post and video:


I’m feeling the burn from Monday’s leg day and It feels great that

I’m feeling the burn from Monday’s leg day and it feels great! I love that alive feeling you get from your body and know that repairing is in progress and with that comes better performance.  I just needed to stop walking like an old man which the walk to the gym and a cycle helped.

Today also marks the completion of my first 3-day weights cycle that I’ve done in the past to build strength and mass.  Each gym session focuses on a mix of isolated and compound exercises so Day 1 I focus on legs, Day 2 on the midsection (Incl lower back, Day 3 on upper body and arms. I’ repeat for the next 3 days and have Sunday off…

… Now I’m hungry!

Ah, so I did already mention Lat Pull-downs!

Today’s exercises:

Part 1.

  • Dumbell Curls
  • Dumbell Press
  • Super Set with 10 Diamond push-ups

2 sets of 10 reps @ 12kg, 2 sets of 10 @14kg, 2 sets of 10 @ 18, 1 set of 5 reps @ 20kg, 1 set of 3 @ 20kg, 1 rep @ 20kg – super setting all the way and work back down until I get to a weight I can do 1 set of 10 reps – I like to finish with 1 set of 15 reps @ 10kg – It’s surprising how heavy this feels after all of the above…!

Part 2

  • Cable Tricep Push Down – Again, started low. 2 Sets of 10 Reps @ 14kg then 18kg and finally 1 set of 5, then 3, then 1 @ 20 kg and back down
  • Lat Pulldowns.

Part 3

  • Wide Arm Chin-ups 3 sets of 8 – my max at the moment.

In My Headphones Today: You might find it weird and I would blame you, but I like listening to Podcasts when I’m training.  Especially when Cycling or Rowing – I get into my pace and rhythm, zone out and keep going…
